Click Here To See the Pictures From Kory's Special Wish Trip To California Where He Met His Life Saving Donor, Jack
January 19, 2003 2 YEARS!!! Can you believe it?...it has been 2 years since Kory's transplant. It almost seems that long since I have written. Sorry, but things around here seem to snowball (especially in Ohio), haha. Kory's 7th birthday was a great celebration, we missed Jack though...but he called which made Kory feel real special. Kory even received a package from Jack's mom and dad. Wow! what a lot of need stuff. He got a good supply FDNY (remember I told you that his dad retired from there). We have held on to it with pride. Christmas was another wonderful celebration. You can certainly tell when your kids are getting older...it doesn't take quite as much time cleaning up after the "unwrapping". We truly enjoyed spending time with all that could come and thought about the ones not able to make it to Ohio. Kory had another chance to tell the media (and all watching) how he thinks of Jack being his hero. Special Wish had their annual breakfast with Santa and Kory and I were interviewed about our trip to California. Kory says he wants to go back. Kory is playing basketball and loves it. There is no problem getting him to bed the night before a game. He has so much energy on the court and if desire could make him a "Michael Jordan" watch out NBA!! He says he wants to be as good as his big brother though. It is difficult keeping him off any court when we go to watch. The Harlem Globetrotters are coming to a town near us and we are hoping to go. Kory's overall health is very good. Recently, he had an infection in his right eye so I quit putting the Atropine in that eye and started with antibiotic drops in both eyes. I figured someone as young as Kory, he would eventually have it in the other eye too so why pass it back and forth?! His eye is much better but the drops won't be done until Wednesday. He returns to the ophthalmologist this week. I will then find out about a possible surgery. Kory will have his 2 year workup along with his endocrinology studies. He starts with everything on February 12th. This should require him to be in the hospital for only a short time. It seems so ironic that the weekend we celebrate Kory's anniversary would also be time for Kory's donor, Jack, to be shipped out now protect the rest of us...as if he hasn't done enough. That just goes to say what kind of person Jack really is. Thanks, Jack and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I had the church altar decorated with red, white, and blue flowers in honor of Jack and to celebrate Kory's anniversary. My thoughts are also with Jack's parents, Gene and Marge.
